At the outset, we had the idea of converting the latest achievements in language processing research into sophisticated software applications for professional use. Corrigo, a proof reading and spelling conversion tool, provided a very successfully entry into the market. Corrigo is the first tool to systematically consider and include the full context in the grammar and spelling checking process which results in the highest precision in detecting mistakes.

In addition to the development of software applications and tools, we also started to provide other services: We offer assistance and advice to clients with a variety of different types of business, we develop individually designed software solutions and system components, always following our principle - professional software technology combined with the latest language technology to achieve best results.

The CLT Sprachtechnologie GmbH was founded in Saarbrücken in 1999. In Saarbrücken we have one of the most important European research institutes for language technology. The founding partners were (and still are) Prof. Dr. Manfred Pinkal, a leading scientist in the field of computer linguistics and winner of the Leibniz prize, young scientists of the University of the Saarland and the publishing house Wais und Partner from Stuttgart, a forward-looking client from the print media.

Our offices are in the Starterzentrum of the university, a center that helps spin-off companies, enabling us to benefit from close contact with science and research via a network of competent and skilled consultants, scientists and employees who work on every aspect of language and information technology. The next step - our move to the Science Park near the campus - also ensures the ongoing access to this resource whose benefits neither we nor our clients could afford to relinquish.
